Waiting on The Lord

Isaiah 40: 31 ...they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.

Isaiah 40:31 is a well known scripture that speaks of waiting on the Lord and the benefits of waiting on Him and Him alone.  This waiting speaks of trusting in and hoping in the Lord…in everything, in every situation and especially in the time of trouble.  But our journey in the Lord is a process…the process of renewing our minds.  Our walk is one of faith (believing) therefore it begins with our thought life…1 Timothy 6:12 - Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life…

Looking back over our lives we can all see how our plans did not lead to a place of fulfillment, a place of rest, or a place of peace.  The scriptures remind us not to lean to our own understanding (Proverbs 3:5).  It is our humanity that leans toward eating from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil (Genesis 3:6) …we devise plans that seem right to us (Proverbs 21:2).  Weariness and tiredness can have great profit if we recognize that it is an indicator that we need more of God…that it is He that needs to come.  When we wait for His Presence to come we are renewed in strength…strength of mind, emotions and body, and spirit.  The wind of His Spirit causes us to soar above our problems giving us a higher perspective.

Our relationship with the Holy Spirit is important in the waiting on God…we cannot do it without His Presence operating in our lives.  Waiting on God is not an intellectual process…we can’t talk self into it or discipline self in to it…it is by the leading and the power of His Holy Spirit…not by might but by My Spirit says the Lord (Zechariah 4:6). The battle that wars in our minds is only won by the Presence of the Holy Spirit operating in our lives.

Isaiah 40:31 is a promise to us from the Lord and we know that His promises are true.  I pray that in 2015 we will spend more time waiting on His Presence… looking to Him in everything as we walk through this life.  I love the gentleness of God’s Holy Spirit…He is always present with us and just waiting for us to acknowledge Him…waiting to be our Helper, Comforter, Wisdom, Understanding, Truth…He is our Confidante.  It is the Holy Spirit Who lead us by the still waters and causes us to rest in green pastures (Psalms 23).

John 14:18 - I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
Psalms 27:14 - Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.
Psalms 37: 7 -  Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.

Away From The Noise

As a child, my way of escape was playing in solitude. I could play for hours alone, using my imagination and a few props. The Holy Spirit has now shown me as an adult that I need to take this tendency toward reclusion and convert it into a more positive expression. Instead of a time of closing others out, it should be a time of going into the secret place with my Heavenly Father.

Perversion of Truth – The enemy will take a characteristic or God given ability and pervert it.  The purpose of the perversion is to hide your true identity and purpose.

I had always prayed for the kind of discipline Jesus had when He would go into the mountains alone to spend time with His Father…not knowing I had the discipline, it was just mis-directed.

I believe our heavenly Father has designed us all to be able to be alone with Him; But this ability has been perverted and instead we use activities and diversions to fill that place which God desires to fill.

The Holy Spirit used my personal season of physical affliction to teach me how to enter in to His presence.  I have found freedom, peace and joy; And most of all I can just sit silently and wait for Him.

He now speaks to me in volumes.  I watch clouds, animals, anything in God's creation. God uses it all to speak to His children.  I open the Word of God and I go specifically to scriptures for my moment, my season, my purpose.  How great is our God!!

How often the very thing that we see as a flaw in our lives is merely a truth about who we are that has been perverted by the enemy.  In taking the time to be alone in the Presence of the Lord, He unveils Truth that leads to freedom.

Ask the Lord to heal you of the root cause of your inability to be still and to be alone, because it is in this place of aloneness and quiet that you meet Him…face to face.

Seeing God's Love

It was a cold wintry morning and I was standing in my kitchen looking out on the barren scene of leafless trees. I thought to myself, this scene reflects my life.  My body was recovering from cancer treatments and I found myself jobless after leaving a full time position in ministry at my family's church. As I stood at the window talking to God about my life a small red bird landed on a tree branch. God winked at me.  That seemingly small act revealed God's truth instantly. All was not lost, although my life like those barren trees seemed lifeless God spoke to me and said that life still surges under the surface. Do not put confidence in what you see with your natural eyes I am always working things out for your good.

The card "Seeing God's Love" from the Love-Line Collection was inspired by this moment with the Father.

I have spent the last 5 years doing some serious journaling (if there is such a word) as the Lord by His Spirit has been speaking concerning living my life as His "new creation."  I have been saved since 1977 and it has been a journey filled with adventure, the unexpected, and learning how to let go while going through pain.
